![]() ![]() I ran the go bat program (-r) I downloaded from the FW Update Marvell 91xx SATA Controller thread and it produced the following results: I am running an ASUS P8CWS MB with Windows 10. Also when I boot in UEFI mode and hit F2 to go into the BIOS i get the following error: "The system cannot fine the UEFI driver for the add-on storage devices. the Ctnl+M does not work in either CSM or UEFI mode. * you may have to restart a second time to really finish the installĮdit: The friendly folks at falcon-nw also tell me that LG-UH10LS20 dvd should work fine with ahci, but i haven't personally tried that yet.Have a Syba SI-PEX40071 RAID card that works, but I am unable to set up any RAID. * make sure "Include Subfolders" is checked * select the "Marvell 9123 Driver Update" folder (next to this readme) * right-click that item and choose "Update Driver Software" * locate the "Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller" under "Storage controllers" * enter "Device Manager" in the search box The latest one may be slightly better at 4k block size, but its all within the margin of error. They all look roughly the same perf wise afaict. CrystalDiskMark results are not consistent across runs regardless of the driver. Works fine on my p7p55d-e pro, but no real change in performance from 1.0.0.36 or 1. driver and some instructions with how to install it. The friendly folks at falcon-nw sent me a stripped down package with the latest 1. I would say there is a very high chance that I'll screw something up and not be able to boot off the caviar and/or access the dvd at some point along the way since I have no clue what i'm doing ![]() Sounds like ASUS had a nice idea to wire in support for "true" SATA3 6G with the older chipset, but the execution of that didn't pan out. The trouble is the driver config crap makes no sense to me. I need to look up if the LG-UH10LS20 will function in ahci mode? Who knows, maybe i end up putting this dvd on the marvell controller or the other currently disabled jmicron controller? I have no shortage of ports to plug them into, that's for sure. The ide vs ahci mode applies to all six of these ports. * Not sure what to do with my other SATA device, a dvdreader? The chipset sata support is set to ide mode at the moment with the dvdreader plugged into one of the 6 SATA2 ports. I'll get faster read/write speeds that way and no BSOD from faulty drivers. * The CaviarBlack should be on one of the SATA2 ports provided by the chipset and it should be set to ahci mode and using the ms drivers. What that suggests to me is I really should connect my SATA devices up differently to the MOBO. If anybody knows what I should be doing with this package, a tip would be mucho appreciated.Īlso, what the heck is the 'console' stuff about in there? I suspect drvSetup.exe is probably what I should run, but thats just a guess? I don't want to bork things such that the hard disk won't be accessible, that would be very bad considering its my boot disk. drvSetup.exe <= is this what i should run? ![]() exe files in the package look likes this. Not clear to me which setup program to run or if I should be using the 'Update Driver' button via win7's device manager and pointing it at something in this pile of files? The layout of the. ![]() But I'm really not sure what to do with the files in this package? There is not a single README file in there (which is frustrating as all get out). It's a zip file with multiple setup programs and what appear to be multiple copies of a suite of mv91xx files in different directories. I've downloaded the package for Marvell 9123/9120 Controller Driver V1. I've seen a handful of bluescreens that I think are attributable to this driver (crashes when going to sleep), so I'd like to try the newer driver. There is an updated driver for the Marvell SATA controller on ASUS's download page for my MB, it's newer than what I've got. ![]()
